Case Study on Software Development
Microsoft® has published on their web site a case study on FileHold’s use of ADAM / AzMan technologies in the development of Document and Record Management Lifecycle Software.
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; FileHold Systems Inc, www.filehold.com a developer of advanced document and record management software has announced that Microsoft® has published a case study on FileHold’s development of their new product FileHold.
“Very few software development companies have a case study written about them by Microsoft” said Larry Oliver, President. “This is verification that we have formed a mutually beneficial partnership with the software industry leader. We have benefited from participating in advanced training courses and by being early adopters of new Microsoft® offerings. All of these activities have contributed to making our software robust and scalable”.
The case study in part reads;
FileHold was designed from the ground up using Microsoft® technology, including Active Directory Application Mode (ADAM), a stand-alone, lightweight directory service based on Active Directory technology, and Authorization Manager (AzMan) for role-based access control.
These technologies helped FileHold solve deployment, user-role management; and user-authentication and authorization issues. FileHold’06 supports access to its content library by users through a standard Web browser or Windows-based smart client from within Microsoft Office applications.
Because ADAM runs as a service, it does not require deployment on a domain controller. It provides a directory for non-Active Directory user accounts and FileHold-specific group memberships. Active Directory user accounts and groups of accounts can be synchronized into ADAM user and group objects and become members of the FileHold specific groups. Companies can add and synchronize users or groups of users from objects in Active Directory, in Microsoft Windows NT® operating system domain servers, any server using the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP)—or even non-LDAP based directory services.
