FileHold viewer level 1 and 2 – Page manipulation and publishing

Pages in a document can be manipulated, such as adding, deleting, copying, dragging and dropping pages, rotating, and flipping, in the FileHold viewers level 1 and 2.

Some Level 1 viewer manipulation is limited to only PDF and image files. Level 2 viewer supports PDF, image, docx, rtf, and txt files.

One or more pages can be selected in the thumbnail view. To select multiple pages, use the SHIFT and/or CTRL keys.

To use the FileHold viewer

  1. Using the contextual menu, select Open in FileHold Viewer. The document is opened with thumbnails displayed on the left side of the viewer. The currently selected page is displayed in the main part of the viewer.
  2. To manipulate the pages, use the toolbar buttons to zoom in and out, navigate between pages, and close the viewer to return to the list of documents. See the table below for a complete list of functions and descriptions.

Publish document FileHold viewer- Submit

Add document as a PDF into the FileHold repository as a new document, as a new version, or save as a local copy of the document.

Also available from right-click menu on thumbnail.

Print FileHold viewer - Print

Prints the document.

Add pages FileHold viewer - Add pages

Adds one or many files before or after the selected page. Files can be added from a local file, clipboard, or the FileHold library.

Also available from right-click menu on thumbnail.

Limited to PDF and image files for level 1 viewer.

Copy to clipboard FileHold viewer - Copy to clipboard

Copies selected pages to the clipboard.

Also available from right-click menu on thumbnail.

Once the page is copied, it can be added back into the document using Add Pages > Clipboard option.

Delete pages FileHold viewer - Delete pages

Deletes the selected pages.

Also available from right-click menu on thumbnail.

Limited to PDF and image files for level 1 viewer.

Previous Page FileHold viewer - Previous page

Previous image is displayed in the document.

<page number> FileHold viewer - page number

Enter a page number to show the image.

Next Page FileHold viewer - Next page

Next image is displayed in the document.

Zoom In FileHold viewer - Zoom in

Zooms in on the image.

Zoom Out FileHold viewer - zoom out

Zooms out from the image.

Fit to Width FileHold viewer - fit to width

Adjusts the image on the screen to fit the full width of the image.

Best Fit FileHold viewer - Best fit

Adjusts the image on the screen so the entire image is displayed.

Full Size FileHold viewer - Full size

Shows the full image size.

Rotate Left FileHold viewer - Rotate counterclockwise

Rotates page(s) 90 degrees to the left.

Also available from right-click menu on thumbnail.

Limited to PDF and image files for level 1 viewer.

Rotate Right FileHold viewer - rotate clockwise

Rotates page(s) 90 degrees to the right.

Also available from right-click menu on thumbnail.

Flip Horizontal FileHold viewer - flip horizontal

Flips the page(s) horizontally.

Limited to PDF and image files for level 1 viewer.

Flip Vertical FileHold viewer - flip vertical

Flips the page(s) vertically.

Limited to PDF and image files for level 1 viewer.

Close Viewer FileHold viewer - Close window

Closes the viewer and returns to the folder.

Available in the Web Client only.

Copy text from screen

Select text from a text searchable document and right-click > Copy text.

Highlight

Select text from a text searchable document and right-click > Highlight.

Strikeout

Select text from a text searchable document and right-click > Strikeout.

Underline

Select text from a text searchable document and right-click > Underline.

Drag and drop

One or many pages can be dragged and dropped into a new position in the thumbnail view.

Use the CTRL and/or SHIFT keys to select multiple pages.

Limited to PDF and image files for level 1 viewer.

Publishing a document from the FileHold viewer

To publish as a PDF document

  1. Click Publish FileHold viewer- Submit.
  2. Select one of the options:
  • Save this published version as a new local document - Saves the document to your local computer. Save or open the file to the local computer.
  • Save this published version as a new document in FileHold - Saves the document as a new document to the library as a PDF. If saving as a new document in the library, set the folder location for the document and fill out any related metadata and click Submit.
  • Create a new version of the file you are publishing – Creates a new version of the document. A new version is automatically created as a PDF.
  1. Click OK.
