The Paperless Office makes use of standard Microsoft technologies already in place in many offices. The following describes in detail what FileHold requires for our two product offerings: FileHold Express and FileHold Enterprise.
FileHold document management software is based on a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and can be installed on single or multiple servers depending on the size and scale of the document management application the customer requires. The FileHold document management server stores, manages and keeps documents secure. For companies who already use Microsoft Active Directory FileHold offers an optional "synchronization" service so that users have a single log on / authentication that is managed with their Active Directory network.

FileHold Server Requirements
FileHold fully supports installation in a Virtual Server environment.
- Windows 2003 Standard Server 32 bit with Service Pack 2 or later
OR Windows 2003 R2 Standard Server 32 bit with Service Pack 2 or later is required
- SharePoint Web Parts are an optional component for MS SharePoint integration. Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS) with Service Pack 1
OR Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 with Service Pack 1 is required.
- To synchronize FileHold with Microsoft Active Directory, Windows 2003 Active Directory is required.
- Microsoft SQL Server in any of the following versions is required:

- Microsoft SQL 2005 Standard Edition (64 Bit) with Service Pack 2 OR
- Microsoft SQL 2005 Enterprise Edition (64 Bit) with Service Pack 2
* 64 bit SQL Server 2005 must be on a separate server or virtual machine since FileHold currently supports only 32 bit Windows 2003 servers.
Considering FileHold Enterprise but don't have SQL Server? - FileHold is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and can provide an "embedded" unlimited user version of Microsoft SQL 2005 standard edition (32 bit) at a lower cost than buying it as a separate component from your software vendor. For more information talk to
- Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition is free from Microsoft and is suitable for trials/demos and small or entry level systems with less than 10 users and 100,000 documents.
With FileHold Express, the database must run on the same server as the FileHold Web Application Server.

FileHold Hardware Requirements
The following is the recommended hardware to run FileHold Enterprise or FileHold Express in a production environment. To discuss the optimal performance from your specific hardware configuration contact
|
Minimum
|
|
|
Dedicated Server
|
A dedicated server or virtual machine is required to run
FileHold Server.
|
|
Processor
|
A modern Dual Core or better AMD or Intel Processor
|
|
Server Memory
|
To provide basic performance, we recommend 2 GB server memory at minimum. We recommend 4 GB for best
performance. If you plan on running the SQL Server application server on the same machine as the FileHold Web Application then 4.0 GB is strongly recommended.
|
|
Hard Disk
|
We recommend a Raid 1 (mirrored) or Raid 5+ Hard drive configuration for
fault tolerance. While the FileHold server installer is only 40 MB
in size, and takes up little space on the web server, you should
have at least double the space of your current document or file
collection. More space may be required depending on the number and
size of documents to be managed by FileHold Document Management
Software.
