Features for the hassle-free deployment, maintenance & support of FileHold

100% Microsoft Technologies Based Solution

FileHold is designed to integrate into your Microsoft front office applications like Microsoft Office and your desktop environment as well as back office systems and network domain authentication systems like Active Directory, LDAP and NT Domain.

Ease of Use Ensures Fast User Adoption

Years of real world usability testing and feedback have allowed FileHold to design, develop and deliver a solution that is quickly understood and adopted by all types of users, from casual users of the system, through document authors, publishers, reviewers and approvers all the way to power users and administrators.

Web Services Oriented Architecture & API

Delivers a highly available, scalable, redundant platform on which to support libraries containing millions of files and documents. Written entirely in ASP 2.0, C# and leveraging the power of Windows 2003 Server (and Windows 2003 Server R2) Server running IIS 6.0 and the MS SQL 2000 or 2005 Database products. FileHold '08 has made improvements to its API making integration with 3rd party systems even easier.

Guest Account Support

FileHold '08 provides the ability for system administrator to provide ‘Guest’ accounts to users needing to access the document library. Guest accounts are ideal for low use employees, non-employees, partners, or vendors that are not part of your internal network but still will need access to specific documents or areas in the library. Unlike registered user accounts, more than one user can access the library at the same time through a guest account. To ensure security standards are met, all users accessing the library with a guest account are restricted to having read-only access to documents. Guest account users can be easily configured so that they can only see and access specific documents and folders in the library.

ClickOnceŽ "No Touch" Deployment & Maintenance

FileHold's Desktop and Office integration utilities are built with Microsoft's .NET 2.0 technologies with support for Microsoft's "Click Once" installation and deployment system. This allows IT personnel to install and manage FileHold's desktop components from Network Management Consoles / tools to greatly minimize IT overhead and support costs.

Fast User Rollout with Optional Directory Server Synchronization

FileHold allows for the quick rollout and synchronization of FileHold users or groups with user or group objects in Active Directory, LDAP or NT Domain directory servers. Once synchronized, both users and groups can then be assigned to functional roles within the FileHold application. Supports the management of external users that do not belong to the domain (for example, customers, resellers, consultants, and other external users of the system) but still need access to the files contained within the library. Contact sales@filehold.com for more information and pricing for this option.

Powerful, Flexible Roles Based Security

Administrators can easily control access to functionality & content within FileHold by assigning users or groups to system roles. FileHold ships with 5 pre-defined roles for Read Only users, Publishers, Publisher + Delete Users, Library Administrators and System Administrators. Flexible authorization management system allows for roles or features to be enabled or disabled based on business need. When rolling out a system, Administrators can limit functionality of the system and add features to the user experience over time to minimize training and complexity.

"What is SOA? Briefly, it's an approach to IT architecture that uses open standards, such as XML and Web services, to enable software applications to exchange data and operating instructions using non-proprietary languages and communication protocols. Applications become available as 'services', universally accessible, discoverable, and understandable to virtually any other application-whether it is housed in the same server blade or halfway around the world."
