Adding Watermarks to Files from the Document Management System
Placing watermarks and banners on documents is one way to add value added information to files that are only seen when the file is printed (or viewed in print preview) unless the banner or watermark is a screen banner or a screen watermark.
Note: Print banners or the watermarks can be added to, cleared or edited until they are burned into a Published CSF file, except when particular banners or watermarks were previously defined, then those defined string values will not be editable.
Adding Watermarks and Banners to Files in the Document Viewer
- Open the file in the document viewer.
- File > ISO Banners/Watermarks.

- Click on the Watermark or one of the ISO banner folders (e.g., Top Left).
- Type in the desired text string or % to access the Tag drop down list.
- Click the Font button to change the font by selecting a font name, Style and size from the Font dialog box.
- Note: Any change in font style and name selection will be applied to all defined watermark and banner settings for the current document (you cannot define multiple fonts or styles per document). The Watermark font size is not affected by your font size selection. The Screen Banner is not affected by any Font setting.
- Click OK to apply your changes and close the ISOBanners/Watermark dialog box.
Add Watermarks and Banners to Display the Version or Document Control Number
To include a watermark or banner open the file using the document viewer.
- File > ISO Banners/ Watermarks.
- Put special placeholders in the watermarks and/or banners:
- ‘%docno’
- ‘%verno’,
- These will be replaced with the Document Control Number and Version Control Number, respectively.

- Click Apply and OK.
Viewing Watermarks and Banners
Watermarks and banners only show when the document is viewed in print preview or is printed. Watermark and/or banner values will appear in the viewing window by adding them as Screen Watermarks or Screen Banners.

These are useful for displaying a document's classification to the viewer (e.g., proprietary, draft, etc.)
These values may differ from the values entered as regular Watermarks and banners that will only be seen in print preview or when printed.
Note: On screen banner fonts are not affected by choices made in the Font dialog box.
