Opening and Printing Files from FileHold Using the Brava Document Viewer

The Brava document viewer is capable of opening for view a variety of file formats. Users will only be able to open files in the document viewer to which they have access to in the document management system.

If you have a Brava viewer license assigned to your user account, then you will be able to view documents in the FileHold Desktop Application.

Also, if you are assigned a Brava viewer license, you automatically get the license and use of the PDF/Image viewer to view PDFS and image files. In order to use the PDF/Image viewer, right-click on a document and select Open to Reorder Pages/Images.

To use the Brava viewer

  1. Log into the FileHold Desktop Application (FDA).

  2. Right-click on a document and select Open in Document Viewer.

  • Alternatively, click on the Viewer icon (magnifying glass) on the bottom right of the screen.

  1. The viewer opens int the bottom pane of the window. The file formats that an individual user can open depend on the type of viewer license that they were issued by the systems administrator.

Opening a File Using the Brava Viewer

  • Open the document viewer using the icon or View > Document Viewer.
  • Select File > Open.
    • A box will appear. 
  • Click on “Open Local file” or “Open file from FileHold Library".
  • Double click on the file.
    • Document will open in the document viewer.

Undocking the Viewer

Users can choose to “undock” the viewer from the bottom of the FileHold desktop application and move it to another area of the computer screen for easier viewing. Users will only be able to open files in the document viewer to which they have access to in the document management system.
 

Note: files can be saved back to the document management system or the local drive when finished.

Document Viewer Toolbar

  • Markup - Allows users to redact and add other markups to the document including watermarks and notes.
  • Print -Print the entire file or select a region of the document to selected printer.
  • Save and Publish - Allows users to save documents in an alternative format such as PDF, TIFF or CSF.
  • Measure - Allows users to measure the size of a line or other geometric object in the document.
  • Select - Opens selection tool for user.

Note: System administrator is in charge of assigning viewer licenses. The Library Administrators can then  configure the viewer setting. Some viewers may not be able to use all the functionality of the viewer.

Printing Control Numbers
When a document associated with a Document Control Number and/or Version Control Number is printed using the FileHold Desktop Applications optional document viewer, these numbers can be included in watermarks and/or banners and printed.

Note: Users may also perform other tasks on documents opened in the viewer including comparing documents, adding mark-ups and redacting sensitive information before sharing the file.
