Converting files in FileHold to other Formats using the Brava Viewer
The Brava Viewer can be configured to allow users to convert and publish files as a PDF, TIFF, DWF or CSF.
Converting (Publishing) Files to Alternative Formats
Allows users to convert files to another format and then save (publish) it either from the document management system or the user’s local machine.
Note: If the user chooses to publish a file from the documents management system in another format they will be prompted to choose how to save the file when they are done.
- Save the file as a new document.
- Save the file to the local machine.
- Save the file as a new version back into the document management system.

Publishing to CSF
Allows a user to restrict other's access or ability to work with the document. This includes what actions can and cannot be performed, whether or not to enable mark-ups, an expiry date for accessing the file and even password security that will protect the file from being seen by those who do not have the password.
Note: this (and other features) can be enabled when configuring the document viewer.
- Open the document viewer.
- Open the file you wish to convert in the document viewer. (OR)
- Click File > Publish > Publish to CSF.
- Select the location of the file that you wish to convert.

- Select the method of saving the file back to the document management system or to the local network/desktop.
- If the user chooses to save the file to a local network they are prompted to name the file. If they choose to place it in the document management system they will be asked to choose between saving the file as a new version or as a new document or to put it on the local system.

- Set the new “visual rights” options for this file. Ths determines how users of FileHold can use the new rights protected version of the document.

- Click on Publish.
- The file structure will reappear and allow you to choose the precise location to which to return the document., set the metadata for the new file and click Add.

Publishing to TIFF
Note: a TIFF is a tagged image format that allows the user to save a file as an image.
Publishing to TIFF:
- Open the document viewer.
- Open the file you wish to convert in the document viewer. (OR)
- Click File > Publish > Publish to TIFF.
- Select the location of the file that you wish to convert.
- Select the method of saving the file back to the document management system or to the local network/desktop.
- If the user chooses to save the file to a local network they are prompted to name the file. If they choose to place it in the document management system they will be asked to choose between saving the file as a new version or as a new document or to put it on the local system.
- Click Save and the file will be saved as a TIFF.
Publishing to DWF
Note: DWF is a design web format is a highly compressed format used for design files such as AUTOCAD.
- Open the document viewer.
- Open the file you wish to convert in the document viewer. (OR)
- Click File > Publish > Publish to DWF.
- Select the location of the file that you wish to convert.
- Select the method of saving the file back to the document management system or to the local network/desktop.
- If the user chooses to save the file to a local network they are prompted to name the file. If they choose to place it in the document management system they will be asked to choose between saving the file as a new version or as a new document or to put it on the local system.
- Choose whether to password protect this file and whether to show layering or publish the pages as rotated.
- Click OK > Save
Publishing to PDF
Note : PDF is a portable document format that provides users with a representation of a 2-D document independent of the hardware, software or operating system.
- Open the document viewer.
- Open the file you wish to convert in the document viewer. (OR)
- Click File > Publish > Publish to PDF.
- Select the location of the file that you wish to convert.
- Select the method of saving the file back to the document management system or to the local network/desktop.
- If the user chooses to save the file to a local network they are prompted to name the file. If they choose to place it in the document management system they will be asked to choose between saving the file as a new version or as a new document or to put it on the local system.
- Click OK.
- Choose whether to password protect this file and whether to show layering, hyperlinks and whether to publish the page as rotated.
- Click Ok
