Annotations and Redacting files from FileHold Using the Brava Viewer
Brava document viewer allows users that have the appropriate permissions to add mark-ups or redact portions of a document in order to share and communicate while maintaining confidentiality and privacy.
Mark-ups are added to a file when users want to share information about that file as part of the file. Markups are saved by the document management system as separate files unless burned into the document.
Users can add the following mark-ups to files
- Boxes
- Arrows
- Text box
- Changenote (Stickynote)
- Images
- Stamps
- Cloud
- Sketch
- Lines
- Rectangle
- Redact
- Strikethrough
- Link

Add a Mark-up to a Document
-
Open the file that needs mark-ups in the document viewer
- File > Mark up > New
- Add in mark ups and format using the markup toolbar as needed to the document or file
-
Once complete - now you must save the Markups
- File > Markup > Save As - to open the Save Markup File As dialogue box
- Enter in the markup a name - then click Save
- The markup now must be closed - File > Markup > Close

Now the markup is saved, and closed - and other users, after opening the document in the viewer - can then open the markup.
Redaction of files in the Document Management System
Redaction covers over words or phrases throughout a document using your color choice. You then "burn in the document" to create a new document where the redactions are permanent. Redaction is a feature that is available if your company has purchased the Redaction option for the integrated Brava viewer.
Note: Redactions like all other mark-ups performed in the document viewer are saved as separate files and are not permanently attached unless burned into the document.
- Select document from the FileHold Desktop Application
- Right Click > Redact Document

- Document will open in the document viewer with the redaction tool opened
- Select the text to redact
- Fill in reason for redaction

- Click OK
- Click Save View As
- Select publish option
- You can either publish this new document outside of FileHold, or as a new document within FileHold.

- Choose Publish Option - that best suits your needs as per the below screenshot.

- This will save the file as a CSF ( Content Secure Format ) - which is viewable using the free Brava viewer (for people who are not using Filehold) or within FileHold using the integrated, optional Brava viewer (for users who have the Brava viewer license installed onto their Desktop/Laptop - and enabled by a FileHold System Administrator.

- Password protection keeps non-authorized users from being able to see what was redacted. If a user knows the correct password then the redactions will show underneath an opaque bar.
-
Set User Visual Rights
- This allows or restricts users from perfoming other functions with the newly redacted/ marked-up file
