How To Install the FileHold Desktop Application

This support article instructs you how to install the FileHold Desktop Application. The following system requirements must be in place prior to installation of the FileHold Desktop Application ;

1. The FileHold Desktop Application can be installed on the following client operating systems Windows XP SP1, SP2 (Pro)
2. Prior to installing the FileHold Desktop Application the .NET Framework version 2.0 must be installed on the same machine

To install the FileHold Desktop Application complete the following steps.

    1. Confirm you are have the Microsoft .NET 2.0 Framework installed. See below for instructions on how to confirm if you have the .NET framework installed or to obtain a link to the .Net framework download .


    2. If your FileHold Desktop application has been sent to you in the form of a .ZIP file unpack the contents of the zip file to any folder on your machine.

    3. Double Click on the FileHold Desktop Application Setup.msi file to start the installation routine. The installation wizard will walk you through the process of installation.

    4. Once installation is complete double click on the FileHold desktop icon or FileHold toolbar icon to run the Application. You can also run the application by selecting the FDA option from the Start Menu > All Programs > FileHold > FDA > menu.

    How to Confirm you have the Microsoft .NET 2.0 Framework Installed

    To confirm you have the Microsoft .NET 2.0 Framework installed complete the following steps

    1. Go to the Windows Control Panel. In some cases system administrators do not allow employees to add or remove programs from their systems. In this case please contact your network or system administrator and ask if you have the framework installed.

    2. Click on Add and Remove Programs. You will see a list of all programs installed.

    3. Scroll down to the Microsoft section of the list to confirm the 2.0 version of the Microsoft Framework is installed. If you don't have the .NET 2.0 Framework installed go to the Microsoft site and follow the instructions for downloading and installing the framework.
