FileHold Release Script for Kofax Ascent Capture - Setup & Configuration Instructions
Need help? Logon to the FileHold customer support portal and log a support request 1. Setting up the FileHold release script in Kofax Administration Module Download and install the Kofax release script as per the
help article entitled FileHold Release Script for
Kofax Ascent Capture Overview. From the Ascent Capture Administration
module right click on the document class you wish to associate the FileHold
release script with and select the 'Release Scripts' menu option. Select
and move the FileHold XML release script from the 'Available Scripts'
column to the 'Assigned Release Scripts' column. If the FileHold XML release
scripts does not appear in the listing of available scripts attempt to
re-install the script again before contacting FileHold support for assistance.
Highlight the newly assigned FileHold XML release script and click the setup button. The FileHold release script properties dialogue will appear (see screenshot below) providing you with the various options to configure the release of scanned information from Kofax.
The release of documents from Kofax generates 2 things. First is an xml file that contains a listing of all documents scanned in the batch, the metadata tagged each document and a pointer to the storage location of the scanned document on the scan station. Second are the scanned documents themselves in whatever format they have been saved as (PDF, Word, TIFF, ,JPEG etc). The next two sections will instruct you how to configure FileHold to automatically watch for and file documents released from Kofax.
2. Configuring FileHold to watch for scanned files released from Ascent Capture FileHold can be configured to watch for the release of documents (and metadata as stored in its XML file) from Kofax and automatically tag and send documents to the FileHold Library. This is accomplished by installing the FileHold Desktop application on the the same workstation that Ascent Capture is on (or on any workstation in the network that can connect to the storage location that Kofax is releasing to. Once installed the FileScan Bridge feature of the FileHold desktop application must be configured to route the released documents into the FileHold server. This is accomplished by using the Manage Imports functionality in the FileHold Desktop Application. The following tutorial video entitled 'Configuring FileScan
Bridge' instructs users how to configure FileScan Bridge to watch for
documents released from Ascent Capture, how to setup metadata mapping
to ensure tagged values captured by Kofax are recognized by FileHold,
how to configure auto-filing for documents and how to automate the migration
of released documents to the FileHold library.
FileHold's auto-filing feature can automatically derive the storage location (a folder) for released document based on the metadata assigned to the document and an algorithm built into an auto-filing script. If - based on the metadata associated with the file - an appropriate folder can be found then the file will be added to the folder. If an appropriate folder (or entire path for that matter) cannot be found the folder path and folder is automatically created by the auto-filing script and the document is filed. The result is a fully automated and highly accurate method of filing documents released from Kofax Ascent Capture.
